Tim Gamper has been working in international development for more than 15 years for various international organizations with a thematic focus on private sector development, vocational skills development and tourism. After several years of work for the Swiss Foreign Ministry he joined Swisscontact, a Swiss-based private foundation (www.swisscontact.org), around 4 years ago with the task to build up project portfolios in the Mekong region. He was instrumental in developing a sizeable portfolio of tourism and hospitality projects within the ASEAN region and Swisscontact currently implements destination management and hospitality programmes in Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
Tim is based in Vientiane, Laos, and has worked in particular on strengthening the tourism destination of Southern Laos (www.southern-laos.com) which was awarded with the PATA CEO Challenge Top Tourism Destination award in 2016. Tim is convinced that at the heart of any success in tourism and hospitality are always people, which is why human resource and talent management is at the core of Swisscontact’s work throughout the region.
Tim will moderate the session on talent management during the MTF and will try to shed light from different angles on the so called ‘war for talent’ in the tourism and hospitality industry. His session panel will include experts from various Mekong countries offering perspectives from industry, government and training providers
