Welcome to Cambodia – Kingdom of Wonder (2010)

It is my sincere pleasure to invite you to the Mekong Tourism Forum 2010: New Roads, New Opportunities. This important event will take place on May 7-8, 2010 in our beloved historical and cultural centre, Siem Reap, home to the much-celebrated UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor.

Dr Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, Cambodia

We are once again looking forward to hosting this influential networking gathering, as it will mark the progress of pivotal business and travel industry forum initiated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) 14 years ago. We take great honor in helping to revive this regional collaborative effort, and wish to graciously represent our distinguished friends and GMS neighbors. The event will also help set the stage for the forthcoming ASEAN Tourism Forum, scheduled to take place in our royal capital of Phnom Penh in January 2011.

It is perhaps fitting that Cambodia should host what promised to be such a prominent conference, as we have been leading, and participating in, numerous important regional travel industry projects in recent years. These include developing regional human resources and capacity building in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS), facilitation of travel and tourism promotion; overseeing a project entitled “Saving Cultures, Saving Lives” and heading another mission charged with small and medium-sized enterprise development and investment in regional tourism-related facilities and infrastructure.

Please accept this warm invitation to the Kingdom of Cambodia for the Mekong Tourism Forum 2010: New Roads, New Opportunities. We look forward to hosting you and receiving your valuable input at this much-anticipated event, and wish you a most pleasant and productive stay in Cambodia – Kingdom of Wonder.
