Mekong Tourism Forum 2021

The Mekong Tourism Forum is set to be hosted by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Myanmar on 25-26 February 2021. Under the theme “Achieving Balanced Tourism” which is highly relevant in today’s world where mismanagement of destinations has led to over-crowding which in return has resulted in an imbalance of the destination’s ecosystem to have a harmonious and inclusive relationship between tourists and residents and to protect and preserve the cultural and environmental assets. After the official opening of the 2021 Mekong Tourism Forum, the event will be featured in five parts including “MTF Gala Dinner & Awards”, the “Village Experience” in the morning will bring delegates to visit local businesses and sites around Bagan for interactive sessions relevant to the theme of “Balanced Tourism”, while in the afternoon, the “MTF 2021 Plenary” will feature engaging keynotes and panel sessions will stimulate discussions. The six-member countries of the Greater Mekong Subregion have banded together to jointly promote sub-regional tourism product development, market the GMS as a single travel destination, and stage the annual Mekong Tourism Forum. The Forum is the event of the year for travel industry professionals dedicated to putting the GMS on the global travel map.
